The Aurora Valentinetti Puppet Museum strives to increase the knowledge and appreciation for the art of puppetry. We have many more puppets to display than available space to present them. Our floor pieces and display cases are updated on a regular basis to guarantee that during each visit you will be presented with a new experience.

What is a Puppet?
A puppet is any inanimate object that is given life through movement and/or sound.

  2008 New Acquisitions

                   In Celebration

A selection from the more than 140 gifts to the
         Museum during the year 2008

Exhibition:  February through April 2009

This exhibition begins a milestone year for the Aurora Valentinetti Puppet Museum.
October 2009 will mark the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Puppet Museum.
In the last ten years the Museum has moved to three different locations.  Our first
home was in the basement of the Admiral Theatre in downtown Bremerton.  From
there we moved to the Fourth Street Building and on to our present location at 257
Fourth Street.  In these ten years the collections have grown enormously from the
original core collection of about 250 items to in excess of 1,000 today.  All of this
has been made possible through the generosity of individual donors.  Our holdings
far exceed our on site capasity to house these collections.

2009 is also important for two offsite significant exhibits in Washington State.  The first
exhibit opened February 1st at the World Kite Museum in Long Beach, Washington
(Pacific County).  The display consists of nine hand-puppets from China that represent
the story "Journey to the West" a tale about the bringing of the sacred text of Buddhism
to China.  This exhibit will be on display through the month of April, 2009.

In July the Curator will be mounting a major exhibit of highlights of the collection at
the South Sound Communithy College in Olympia.  This exhibit, sponsored by the
Capitol Playhouse Theatre in conjunction with their summer "Page to Stage" program
will open in July and run for 6 weeks to 2 months, closing in August.  In conjuction
with this exhibit there will be a display of puppets at the Olympia branch of the Timberline
Library as a part of the summer program.

In October the Curator will mount a special exhibition of highlights from the collection to
mark the Tenth Anniversary of the opening the Aurora Valentinetti Puppet Museum.
Come visit the Museum located at 257 Fourth Street in downtown Bremerton.  Hours are
Wednesday through Saturday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Help support this unique West Sound
Treasure.
